About Me
Hi there! My name is Ella Marie and I am the sole owner and creator of Chronic & Cozy! I am a 22 year old, Chronically ill crochet artist, that really just wants to take people along on my journey with me of getting these items into markets and learning about what is "wrong" with me.

My Story and Inspirations
I've always been the "medically difficult" child for my parents, and my brothers were both athletes that never had anything other than a broken wrist and a really bad back. I, however, have always had something wrong. This hurt, that hurt, my stomach is upset, I'm tired, you name it. Come to find out, I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures, and much, much more. I loved working, I was working at churches for many years as a worship artist and social media director, and then went into the dental field, when suddenly my body wouldn't let me work anymore. At least not the normal 9-5 that I wanted to work. So, I had to come up with another solution, which was starting my own little company. I started crocheting when I was 5, which is what brings me to my first two inspirational people in my life! My auntie Lena, and my grandma Irma (pictured with my Grandpa Rich), both taught me how to crochet. They taught me how to sew, cook, clean, and so much more, but mostly, they taught me to crochet. Each of them were so patient with me, and my grandma even framed the first chain I ever made. The second chain I made was so long that I used it as decorative garland around my childhood bedroom for many years. they sat with me and taught me how to do every stitch, find every missed stitch, and how to be patient with unraveling the yarn, which is always my least favorite part. My Auntie Lena along with Grandma and Grandpa actually both helped me fund this company and everything that came with it. My Grandma is thankfully still able to see me make this a reality, so thank you, Grandma, for everything you've done for me, and for being one of my best friends and biggest supporters, I love you endlessly. Auntie Lena and Grandpa Rich have both passed on, so this entire work and company is dedicated to them and all of the hard work that they put into raising me as their granddaughter and great niece. I wouldn't be who I am without them in my life.
My next Inspiration, is my other grandmother, Meme (pronounced like Mimi or Mee-Mee), who taught me how to sew and raised me like I was her own. My Meme is my best friend, her and I are incredibly close, and I have relied on her for most things throughout my life. I know my faith, my attitude, and my grace is from her. Meme is one of the strongest women that I know, both in faith and in personality and whimsy. She makes the darkest day a million times brighter with her joy and undeniably contagious laughter. She is so wonderful and one of the best people I've ever gotten to meet. In January of 2025, my Meme was in the hospital for a surgery that didn't go quite as we expected, and she's been in the hospital or rehab centers since, after being mostly previously healthy throughout her life. She's been on a ventilator this entire time and undergone multiple surgeries to help her get better. I heard her real voice for the first time in 7 months the week before my 22nd birthday, and cried like a baby. She truly is the strongest person that I know and ever will know.
Probably my biggest inspiration and supporter has been my significant other, Jared. We've been together for about a year and a half, and in that time, I started crocheting again, to which he encouraged me to continue to get better and be able to sell them. He provides for us, and allows me to stay at home to take care of the house, my business, and my health, as well as takes care of my mental and physical health in a way that's so amazing and wonderful, and I'm so grateful for him. He has not only inspired me to work on getting my health back on track, but to follow my real dream and get behind my own desk, rather than behind the desk of other companies. He has helped me take care of so many things when it comes to this business and has selflessly offered to help me work markets on his weekends off from doing his back-breaking work as it is. Jared, my handsome man, thank you for always being there for me and taking care of me, while also continuing to remind me that I am strong and I can and will get better if I continue to put in the work. I truly can't thank you enough for everything you do for me, and I love you more than words can describe.
Last but not least, my Dad. Admittedly, I haven't always had the closest relationship with him because of my own teenage angst, but through my angst, and even as I've gotten older, he's always shown up and supported me in whatever way that he can. Him and my mom divorced when I was pretty young, and I lived with my mom most of the time, but through middle school and high school my dad showed up to every track meet, choir concert, JROTC event, and awards night that he could be at. And he even went when my brother had things going on the same week, so he had to drive multiple hours after work to come and see us, multiple times a week. In college, my dad moved me to the other side of the country every year, no matter what time of summer that it was, and always checked in to make sure that I was doing okay. When I started having issues in college, he would sit and listen to all my woes on the phone and give the best advice he knew how to. Now that I'm not in college any longer and only live a short while from him, he comes to every doctors appointment that he can make it to with me, and sits and asks questions about everything. Him and my step-mom, Cindy, both have continued to research my conditions and help me learn more about what's going on in my body so I can learn ways to help manage my symptoms at home in more natural ways. I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without the encouragement and knowledge from my dad, so thank you dad.
(Not pictured, but thank you to my mother, Jennifer, who taught me how to make websites and harness my creativity into something that could be beneficial for others.)
